What's the main difference btwn cold air intake and short ram intake? Is it just the cai makes cold air and the short ram is shorter? Which would be better? How much would each help? thx

Well here are some basic things about CAI and SRI.
With a short ram intake you will initially net more hp gain from the begining but as the temperatures start to warm up under the hood the hp will start to go down.

As the engine bay begins to warm up the intake then starts to suck up hot air and not bringing in cold air anymore.

With a CAI you will not gain as much hp as you would a SRI, but you will keep the hp constant as the engine bay heats up. And over a certain amount of time the CAI will have more hp then the SRI.

So your best bet would be to go with a CAI. But the only downside to owning a CAI would be huge deep puddles of water. You do not want to hydrolock, in other words suck water into the intake and shot the water right into your motor and cracking it.

So for now just go with the CAI and watch out for puddles. And for more information on the intakes for the RSX just look in the newest edition of import tuner and they have some basic information on the various intakes.
