im gonna buy a 1996 integra gsr and i was wondering how hard and what would i have to do to make a 13 sec car out of it with out nos or turbo. cams, port/polish, intake; etc. thanks for the input and i dont want to rip the block apart or pull the motor thanks

If you're not going FI (turbo/nitrous/super) and you dont want to rip the block apart then you arent getting that car into the 13's. Bolt ons + a cam is about all you can do without tearing the engine apart, and it just wont get you there. You'd have to go high compression pistons, mabye a Type-R transmission, lightened flywheel etc.

what does a stock gsr do in the quarter mile with some slicks and i will probably end up shooting a 50 shot but i dont want the motor to blow up!!! if i put stage 3 clutch type r cams port/polish 3 angle valve job and a 50 shot with a lsd tranny and some slicks what will i probably run??? what would be better also a turbo or nos thanks

Isn't that taking the engine apart? But honestly, good luck reaching 13's without any serious mods. Honda motors are good, but not that good. If bolt-on's propelled me into the 13's, then a bolt on turbo would probably make me go into the 10's.

a 10 second honda from a just bolt-on's and a turbo? i think not.

in theory it proabably would, but u have to make the engine handle that sort of horsepower which is damn costly and not many original parts would remain.

A stock GSR will do around high 15's. With a 50 shot probably high 14's. That motor will handle a 70 shot in stock form. If you are going to take the head off to get P&P'd, also get it milled to up the compression.

Depends on what you want, power all the time or just at the track whether or not to go turbo or NOS. With the GSR motor I would just go NOS cuz of the high CR. If you had an LS I would say turbo.

first of all its called NITROUS and with a honda i would go with ZEX.....

I am using a 60 shot wet NOS (Nitrous Oxide Systems) kit. I have raced a ls with the zex and it was slow in my opinon. I am looking toi hit 13's in my LS next friday I have some sticky tires and I have a set of crower 62404 cams and an Jacobs ice pack along with a nitrous mastermind. Currently the cams and nitrous mastermind are not installed but by then i hope to have it all finished and tuned. I have ran a best of 14.4 with 60 shot and aftermarket wheels that are kinda heavy, along with tires that are too tall(wrong size, they came like that).

If you strip the car to the bone (EVERYTHING, even A/C) add slicks, you'll probably get into the 14's, high 14's but still 14's. you can EASILY run 13's with only nitrous on the enigne and I/H/E.

P.S it's funny how people think you need HP to go faster, tuning your transmission, stripping your car, getting grip, will easily win you at least a second in the 1/4.

P.P.S ditch that sunroof if you wanna go .1 faster ;)

People call it NOS because it's the popular brand, and also a convenient abbreviation.

I'd like to know how Nitrous is considered forced induction... afterall the motor is still naturally aspirated...

because it is forcing an unnatural amount of oxygen into the combustion chamber (when being used).

It's not forced induction, but rather pressurized (spelling) induction. Nothing forces the nitrous into the intake chamber, the nozzle is'nt really that "forceful", but the nozzle is pressurized so it's considered "presserized induction".

Ahh that is not quite right, the pressure of the N2O does not force it into the cylinders, the cylinders suck the N2O in. The pressure is there so it is a constant amount of flow and to atomise the fuel and nitrous. But the nitrous is 2 parts nitrogen and 1 part oxygen, But when it heats up in the cylinder the nitrogen releases more oxygen and expands creating more cylinder pressure and more oxgen to burn the extra fuel. A turbo does basically the same thing (more oxgen to burn more fuel). That is why some ppl refer to nitrous as forced induction.
