Hi all,
first post here for me, so first of let me say WOW. This place is simply amazing. So big and so much to read, great.
Now my question, prolly the first of many to follow, is not too hard I think. I started modeling about 6 monts ago and I'm almost finished with Tamiya's F1 Braun Tyrrell Honda 020 (1:20) After this I'm gonna start on Revell's Dodge Viper GTS (1:25) I already saw that for the main body color Revell recommends to mix 2 paints and apply them with a brush. Now I've already found out that spraying the body is far better so I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice on which color to use. I want to give the model the usual Dodge Viper blue so if anyone could tell me which color (Tamiya or whatever..) to use that would be great.
Thanks in advance
Marcel

Welcome to AF!!
For the Viper, try black w/ silver stripes or vice versa. :D

Guys he asked for dodge viper blue.
The color you'll want is "GTS Blue Pearl Clearcoat", which is a custom mix. You'll have luck if you go to an autostore and pick up some duplicolor touch up cans. As for Tamiya sprays, TS19 metallic blue might be a close match.

Ok,
thanks for the advice guys. I'll have to give the color another thought though because that black with silver stripes also sounds really good.
Now I've got one more question before I can start working properly on the model. I've read some different stories about painting the body. I've never used primer before and I was planning on doing this the first time for the Viper. I was planning on using the following steps for painting the body but I'm not totally sure, so please correct me if I'm wrong or if I missed a step. (which is most likely ;))
1. Light sanding of the body
2. Apply 2-3 layers of primer
3. Wait 24-48 hours before light sanding with 1200 grade paper
4. Apply 2-3 layers of paint
5. Apply 2-3 layers of clear coat
6. Polishing
Thanks again
