1997 Villager Front Brakes

I just replaced both front calipers on my villager with 110,000 miles. The left side pads have worn quicker than the right on the last two sets. After replacing both front calipers and bleeding them the left wheel seemed to be binding when I spun the wheel by hand. In fact I could not spin the hub until I put the wheel back on (more leverage I think). I opened up the bleeder screw and the caliper released the pads. Closed the bleeder and applied the brakes momentarily and tried to spin it again and it is still binding.
Could it be the master cylinder? Thanks. - Bob

I would change the brake hose on the left side. They will colaspe internally and you will not see it. If both sides were binding after the caliper replacement then I would consider the master clyinder.
Hope this helps and let us know.

If your calipers were frozen the rotors are toast as well. Since only one side is binding, put the good side rotor on the bad side and see if it binds the same way. I'm guessing you could benefit from new rotors. Check rockauto.com for the best prices even shipped.

Here is an update on this problem. The car was driven for a week or two and then I jacked up the front and spun the left and right wheels by hand and there was no binding. Since I used the old pads and rotors I'm thinking that may have been a factor in the binding that I saw. I'll keep an eye on this and change the rotors when I do the pads next time. Also, I will replace both brake lines as suggested by tempfixit. - Bob
