92 Maxima SE Tranny Problems

Good site! Just bought a 92 SE (twin cam) w/112k.
Transmission is slow to shift (hi revs), then when it does, it takes a while and the revs go higher while it is shifting. Can baby it and it seems to work fine.
Any ideas on a fix? Will any other later model trannys be compatible so I can find a salvaged one? Any ideas, suggestions appreciated.
