Homemade Gauge Cluster

I built this from a DX cluster:

What do you think? It is for sale now because I got a VAFC (which has a tach) so I want my gas/temp gauge back. It has about 121k mi. on it but I can put in any odometer (so if you want your odometer in it I can do that) I can also put in those metal gauge face overlays or indiglo faces if you want. Right now it just has white face gauges I printed off my computer and they light up red.

If you want more pics I can do that, and I can also type up a little tutorial about how to do it yourself if anybody is interested.

For anybody wanting info on that sub box I was making, I changed it. I built it into the side panel so I could get to my spare tire. No pics of it yet.

My digital camera won't take pics when it is dark out so I don't know if I can get a pic of it. Besides right now it needs batteries so I havn't got a pic yet to show how I made it.

To sum it up I got a 89 LX cluster thinking it was a 91. oops. So I cut the hell out of the back of the DX cluster and modified it to bolt in the tach from the 89 LX cluster. I just used some spacers and screws to hold it up against the front-it looks stock. Because of the modifications the tach will not back light, there is nowhere to hold the bulbs. So I printed off some white face gauges and stuck them on. I also painted the needles orange, when they were white they were very hard to see. Indiglow gauges WILL work but yoou have to use the ones for a Si cluster so you get a tach. For the tach signal/pwr I just guessed and got it right, it is soldered to the board on the back so this is plug and play.

During this ordeal I perfected the art of removing needles and rolling back odometers. I did not change mine, I just messed with the LX one. When I bought a new cluster I swiched odometers so this one has the odometer from my new cluster (91 DX AT < 121k) and the face hat came with it, but a white face.

For gas, I always get gas at about 200 mi. so I have no problems. That is what the tripometer is for anyway.

I can only fit in about 4 gallons (average 40+ mpg since MPFI swap-i don't know how) but I don't keep much cash on me usually so I can get 4 gallons for under $10. Right now I have $18 because I my friend paid me back $10 this morning, that should give you an idea how much I carry around. Most purchasing I do is by ATM but I always go to a full service gas station so to pay w/ ATM I have to get out of my car.
