GNX

Does anybody like these? I think that they're hideous.

Nah, I don't think they're hideous either.. uninspired perhaps, but not hideous. The performance looks like it should be pretty solid:

Well, i dont think that they are hideous, but there's nothin unique about them. I think a lot of people are just tired of buicks, they just produce the cars...blah...blah, without any enthusiasm.

I will go on a hunch that this is the GNX concept car and not the 87 GNX. I can't get the page to load.

As a Grand National owner...I don't like the GNX name being applied to this car. It just looks like every other 4-door FWD jelly-bean shaped car out there.

If I am mistaken and the picture is of te 87 GNX then I must say that car is very nice and I like it a lot.

Hey Rens, have you ever been to the Grand National event that is held in Bowling Green, Kentucky at Beech Bend Raceway?

Nope...never been. I have heard about it but never seem to find the time to go.

I went to college in Bowling Green, so I was always down there when the GN's rolled into town. One of the guys I went to school with had a nasty little foxbody mustang with a built to the hilt 351 Windsor. There was always somebody ready and willing when those guys were in town. We'd take turns racing it. We'd win some and lose some, it was alot of fun. That's when I first learned alot of respect for the GN's. It amazes me how much power those cars can produce. Especially with just a slight turbo upgrade. I'm sure they are still having the event, you should check it out if you ever get the chance.

i will probably purchase a GN for my next vehicle in spring. i had never heard of them until i was in a buick dealership. they had one just sitting out , it was love at first sight. mine will eventually be lightly modified. you know turbo timer, boost controller, new exhaust, downpipe yada yada

p.s.- any recommendations on other mods or the best mods in general thanx

Grand Nationals can be hard to find. Don't bother trying to find a GNX, they only made 500, and they are pretty much all owned by collectors, or not for sale.

They did make a lot of T-Types though, and if you get a late T-Type, you can do a little work, run faster and handle better than a GN, and for less money too. GNs are expensive.

All they had was a bit better suspension, some engine tuning and bigger brakes.

GN's are badass thats all I have to say. Plus, I would like to see buick make another performance car similar to the GN. Although I am a big Impala fan that concept car will not do.

Hey guys I went down to nats in BG and after seeing the new GNX up close and personal I'm going to have to take back my prior statement. I think it looked pretty damn awesome an it will make for a definite sleeper, just like the originals:D

More GNs were built than TTypes! (TType = '86, The Turbo "T" was '87 mistakingly referred to as a TType)

As for being hideous... beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I think Civics and DSM's are lame looking.

For a car that will trot out a high 13 with nothing more than 93 octane fuel added to it, you're going to be hard pressed to beat a turbo Buick with your 4 banger rice toy.

i know you guys arn't talking bad on the grand nationals? They are among the fastest american made cars ever. Pimpin too.

If you read closely you will notice that most posters on this thread own Grand Nationals or seem to be fans of the Grand National. So in response to your question no we are not "talking bad on Grand Nationals.";)

my bad,

T-Types, Turbo T's and GN's all had the same suspensions:sway bars, brakes, motors and trans. The only difference was cosmetic. You could get a "T" with a column shift, bench seat, radio delete, roll up windows or fully loaded with a padded top, cornering lights, concert sound, leather interior, full chrome trim and your choice of colors. You could get a GN in any color you wanted as long as it was black with buckets and a console.
