A Story...

...a SAD story...:(
My Civic is probably gone. Rear-ended a truck yesterday. Thought that traffic was still moving in front of me. By the time I realized that it wasn't, I slammed on my brakes at about 50MPH, which promptly locked my wheels, which slid me right under an older Ford Ranger with a tow package (read: his back-end was barely damaged). With my car being so low, I went under his bumper and folded my hood like an origami, and my radiator is now resting against my bent headers:(. I had it towed to my friend's shop, who said that the car might be a total, especially with both of my airbags going off. I guess it costs a lot to replace those things.
What's messed-up is I might not get back all that I owe. I might end up still owing the bank, while not having a car. That's if they total it. I do have my 1999 Isuzu Rodeo, but my kid's mom drives that to work and to pick my son up.
Between work and school, I'll have to find some carpool until I get this straightened out with the insurance company.
Years of racing, and THIS is my first accident:rolleyes:. That's probably because when I am racing, my senses turn razor-sharp. Yesterday, I got too comfortable...it happened about an eighth of a mile away from my work.
Oh, did I mention I got a $120.00+ ticket in the process?
Keep it safe boys and girls:o.
P.S.: Airbags and seatbelts DO work...trust me.

yeah thats soo true. i got a friend whos gotten into soo many accidents, and non of them are race related. its always other people hitting him when hes just chilling at a light or something. whenever he races hes fine csaue hes a good driver. but because he just got into his like 6th accident in the same car, hes not goin to race anymore. and yes he fixs the car after every accident. so you can imagine how much money he lost.

Sorry to hear that you totalled your car. That is sad news. :( And we are all glad you only have the car to worry about and not your health. Walking away is damn good thing :)

Who is your insurance carrier? My mom had a similiar hassle with her car, it was stolen and the amount she owed was more then the value of the car then. Anyway we argued with the State Farm long enough and they swallowed the difference.

Thanks.
...and yes, walking away is MOST DEFINITELY a good thing.
Again, SEATBELTS AND AIRBAGS WORK.
Sorry for the preaching.

American Bankers Insurance.
Trust me. I'll be an arguing mofo before this is all over, and thanks for the advice.
