Ferrari New Cali Restyle + V12

In order to get this car more to my liking I installed the sail panels from the 599 to make it look like a true hard top.

Not much I could do with it's thick behind... but I did change the rear design somewhat by getting rid of the frowning inserts which were at the ends of the recessed area. I had to rescribe some trunk lines.

I will duplicate the side vent inserts and install two in the hood per picture.

That will be all of the body mods because I don't want to get too far from a factory look. After I get the bodywork finished I will cast it so I can make a full race GT2 version with matching sail panels.

The V12 engine is from the 599 but it will have Enzo cam covers. The engine swap is pretty easy except for adapting the Cali V8 snorkels to the V12 plenum.

Wheels are 19" and 20" Hobby Design.

I knew the Cali would look better as a dedicated HT. Can't wait to see GT2 version.

Am I the only one who thinks that Ferrari's inspiration for the tail lights for their later cars(430,Enzo,399,California,612,and Italia) is the full size '65 Chevy?Sure looks very close.

Some piece of just about every car looks like a piece of some other car...that's just how it is.

Ferrari used pairs and quads of round taillights of various sizes long before the '65 Impala. And considering they were mostly pairs or quads, a better example would be a Biscayne or Bel Air. But no...when I see the taillights on a Ferrari, if they don't remind me of Ferrari, they might remind me of a Corvette.

Beautiful! The changes to the body make a huge improvement over an already great-looking car.

The premeirship footballer responsible for this automotive atrocity has also ruined a perfectly good Audi R8 with a rather unfetching colour combination. I've seen the R8 outside the Man City ground not too far from where I live, I've not had the misfortune of spotting the Bentley yet.

No wonder Top Gear makes fun of footballers!

Finally some progress on this project. I decided it's going to be white with red or dark blue interior and it will have the Hamann ground effects. So it's now primed in white awaiting paint and the blue stripes to be painted on per my inspirational photoshopped(by me) pic.

Hawt stance and good wheel choice. One suggestion though.... Get a taller rear tire.

That is one hot Ferrari! Liking it in white a lot.

I'm really liking that roofline! Of course you know those protruding gauges are actually hvac vents. What V12 will you be fitting? Probably from the 599 kit? Very cool project!

DecoColor silver paint pen. As bright as Testors silver chrome trim paint but it actually dries, and fast.

Very nice ! Kinda looks better with the Novitec wheels. It fills better the rear wheel space.
