Nice one Devin.
One of my favourite sayings when it comes to race car engineering is "if you can imagine it and describe it you can make it happen".
In this case though, I think the "making it happen" bit will involve a lot of cutting up your Panoz chassis! Like the independent rear end benefits though.

I'd love to figure out the IRS for our cars...

The Panoz already handles better then a Corvette. Why spend the money and time to F' it up? Spend your money and time on seat time.

Other than camber gain when cornering a properly setup solid axle can perform to the levels of a IRS car.
If you want a Corvette track car buy a used FRC or used Z06 and do it.... I wouldn't waste the time trying to make it work.
That said, if I guy can make it work with a Honda Civic (google Civette) it could definately be done w/ the Panoz.

I think there may be some other benefits over and above transitional camber Brian. These would include likes of;
- Less overall weight (the 9" is real heavy with the floater hubs and axle sizes we carry),
- Less unsprung weight (this is really a biggie),
- Ability to play with squat characteristics,
- Ability to adjust initial camber,
- Better traction out of corners.
I am sure there may be other benefits that I have not thought of. I am seriously considering an IRS conversion, it will come down to time and $$.

Woo Hoo - someone on my side... great points Kel, exactly what we have been thinking too. Not that I'd try to take a rolling vette chassis and integrate it into my frame - that was mainly set up as a joke with a tad serious side for an IRS conversion. I was just thinking, if I was close to spending 9K on a new Vette motor for my car - could I take this rolling chassis and use the easy parts and take ideas from the rear aspect of this chassis and figure out a way to convert the solid to independent.
Sorry if I ruffled feathers - seems to be a ton of emotion on this post.

Eric I know a really clean '99 FRC Corvette that's TT prepped local to me where the guy is asking $15k... comes w/ lots of spares and it's black which seems to be your color.
