have a mil on and a 340 code. the sensor mag had separated and damaged the synchronizer. i replaced the synchronizer and sensor, i marked it befor i pulled it and everthing lined up, when reinstalled, but still getting a 340 code,
have noticed if mil clred while running, will not reoccur until shut off and restarted, within a few seconds mil comes on 340 code. rechecked sensor and synchronizer position good. ohmed pwr gnd to bat gnd .2ohm good, vpwr
12.2vdc good, cid 2.5vdc when sensor gap blocked good. ohmed cid wire and vpwr to pcm .2 ohms good, actuall bypassed pcm harrness wired around it gnd, vpwr, cid wires stilled got 340 code. i have not replaced pcm yet but have read other postings in this forumns and other who have with no resolve on this issue at this stage. have a know good pcm on order due next week.
got any other ideas in the interm? Also is vpwr voltage provided by a pwr relay? all input welcome

About the only help I can offer on the subject is what the factory service manual suggests for possible causes of this code:
Possible causes:
-- CMP circuit open.
-- CMP circuit shorted to GND.
-- CMP circuit shorted to PWR.
-- SIG RTN open (VR type).
-- PWR GND open (Hall effect type).
-- VPWR open (Hall effect type).
-- CMP Sensor (Hall effect type) not installed correctly.
-- Damaged CMP Sensor.
-- Damaged PCM.
Time to get out the multimeter and backprobe set.
