Ambient Air Temp Sensor

My external temperature reading is ~ 20 degrees lower than the actual outdoor temperature. This doesn't let my AC work properly (won't blow that much cold air). It's reading 49 when it's 70 outdoors. I replaced the ambient air temperature sensor and is still reading ~ 20 degrees lower than actual. Any other suggestions?

Not to insult your intelligence, but I see you have a low post count, and I have been sold the wrong item before, so I will suggest only, to make sure everyone is on the same page, that you confim you replaced the ambient air temperature sensor mounted in front of the radiator? It looks like this:

No insult taken. Thanks for a quick reply. Yes that's the one I replaced. I purchased it from the dealer ($13) after doing some internet searches on similar problems. Not sure what else it could be, frayed wires along the harness, or if system needs to be reset by disconnecting the battery??

Not sure. Odd. Not had that happen and I have replaced it in both of my Intrigues. I wonder if removing and replacing the battery would help. I would check the ground at the steering column near the "firewall" as well. Are you sure there are no leaks in the ac? Any other goofy electrical issues?

BTW, I saw in the service manual that you are supposed to disconnect the battery before doing this procedure, and that you need to drive it about 20 mins to get the new temp sensor to start reading right. Don't know if this will help but hope it does.

Hi I have the same problem ac wouldnt work.tried putting freon in it but it was already full My ambient temp read 30 degress wouldnt let the ac kick on,which I thought was funny because it use to be when the defroster was on it cycled the compressor.I changed the sending unit and still it didnt work pulled the havc fuse on the passenger door side fuse b ox and it reset my gauge to 50 degress which allowed the ac to work.hope this helps -does anyone know why I cant work my windows from anywhere but from the drivers door.I changed the unit still wont work

Your windows arent locked are they? There is a rocker switch toward the bottom of the window controls that says "window lock" if its engaged the other window controls wont work. At least I know the back ones wont.

I too had the same problem with all my windows accept for the drivers side. The switch was unlocked. But it comes and goes intermittently. Most days they work and some they dont.

When my battery was replaced, there was a white connector that came unplugged while they were putting the new battery in, check that connector near the battery for corrosion or poor connection..
