Meditation Tip Weekly - Eckhart - April 12, 2003
------------------------------------------------
For whoever seeks God in some special way, will gain the way and lose God who is hidden in the way. But whoever seeks God without any special way, finds Him as He really is and He is life itself.

Sounds like quasi religious BS to me.
Whats "some special way"
Whats the "way"
Whats "god", or whos "god"
How can you lose something you havnt found?
Whos he? is god he?
If gods life than what am I living?
Is this some refernce to religious organisations?
How to do we know we're seeking in a special or un-special way?
And if gods hidden in the way then dont I first need to find the way?
Jay I thought you were more rational than this?

:lol2: at Moppie. I will echo his sentiments, as I was thinking the majority of the same thoughts while reading that. Although, I think this is one of those things you smile and nod at. Kinda when George W. pauses in his speeches and gets his far-away constipated look.

I just asked God what that meant. He said "I haven't the foggiest idea."

Corollary: The end does not justify the means . . .

I can clearly see that is an example of a thread where you either get it, or you don't. It's like a Zen proverb, how the only way to find truth is not to seek it, but rather to let it find you. For those of us that understand and embrace the concept of faith, even not in the form of anything as tangible as a "god," it makes perfect sense. It is nothing philosophical in so much as a debatable subject, but rather a spiritual understanding, of something you feel. Explaining it much beyond Eckhart's simple quote above is to rob it of meaning, like how when you have to explain a joke, it typically ceases to be humorous.

Well said JD, unforunatly it means it has no Philosophical use what so ever.

sounds like it means that if you go looking for god or try talking to him through your prayers he will not come but in your darkest hour you greatest time of need he will appear and he will watch over you. As long as you don't spend your life looking for him.
That sounds like an anti-religous interpretation.
