Looking at several 2001 Jetta's all around 90,000 miles, it that a lot for a Jetta. Can iI expect problems in a few years. Do the automatic trannys hold up well after 90.000
The car will be used localy and will not see 5,000 miles a year if I buy it. I would expect to have to do some normal maintenance, timing belt and things like that but want to know if the major componants hold up well at high mileage
Thanks

If the car you find has been cared for the miles are still low enough for you to get good service from it. You know about the timing belt and water pump issues and would need to be done. The AT is hardy and needs little maintenance. If you were to have issues with your AT take to the dealer for total satisfaction. I would not spend over $4000 on the car though. Good luck!

Thanks, it's right around the price range. Just wanted to make sure there are some usefull miles left in it. I do not mind doing routine maintenance just to not want to buy something that has a bad history of major componant failures. Been lots of years since I had a VW (81 diesel rabbit) Just want to make sure the Jetta is at least as durable as the rabbit was

My Jetta has 155,000 miles on it and still runs strong I am quite pleased with it I don't ever want a new car; ever. :)
