For those of you that are outside of the US, and are unaware of the significance of April 15th, it is the deadline for incame taxes to be filed. This is a painful and stressful day for many Americans. I found something today that I found pretty amusing. As a nice distraction (but it will probably only work until midnight tonight in the US). Try loading www.yahoo.com repeatedly and check out the facial expressions of the people who forgot to pay their taxes. Funny!! :silly2:

Don't I WISH I got money BACK from our blood-sucking government!!!! I owed money yet again this year. Friggin capital gains kicked my ass, just like the dividends have in years past. :(
But I'm done. I e-filed. :D

Congradulations! You are one of the ones the goverment loves! Remember its your money! Anything you get back is an intrest free loan to the government.
Sorry Silver82x but 5200 would rack lots of intrest or pay off a good chunk of debt.
Everyone please remember you are not paying any more taxes, saving anymore or getting money from the goverment. The amount of tax you pay has nothing to do (unless of course you get penalized for drastically underpaying) with the amount of tax you owe. The goverment has you bamboozled if you believe your refund is extra money.
My final tax bill was 1700 which isn't to bad of a final. Overall our tax bill was 35K (give or take a couple hundred) just for the federal and state income taxes. Damn if I'm going to give the goverment more if I do not have to.

Two events outside of Canada also occured on the 15th;
1. My sister's B-day
2. The ocean liner Titanic struck an ice berg and sunk several hundred miles off the coast of Newfoundland in 1912, 91 years ago yesterday.

My checking account pays 0% so it's just as well if the barstards hold onto the money for me.
They didn't withhold squat this year so I ended up owing $140 extra - and altogether I paid out around $1600 for state and fed.
