Indent in the fuel tank of GP bikes

Hi

:o Maybe street bikes have this too, not sure, but I noticed an indentation on the top of the fuel tank of grandprix bikes, and was wondering what it was for. The only theory I can think of that it's there to allow the rider's head to be positioned even lower when riding down the straight. :confused: That is a total guess though. Can anyone clear this up for me?

you've got it!...so the chinbar of the helmet can be recessed into the tank for full-tuck on straights.
