smoked him!!!!

Alright here goes, I was on my way back from my girls house on randall (for those in the area who might know it) and an older eclipse goes flyin past me.(it was the old eclipse that looks like the talon and the lazer and so forth) any ways i got up to him at the next light noticed exhaust some stickers and winsheild sprayers, he revs and i throw him one back, we take off from the light and right away i noticed it was a 5-speed, now for those of you who know i have a 2002 civic auto, not to fast. we were even coming out of 1st and second but once he went to shift i was gone i beat his ass by about 4 cars. the second light we came to (Huntley and randall) we threw revs at each other and then the light turned green. someone turned out infront of me so i had to go into the only lane and then back out on the road, but once again i beat him. I cant belive i actually did all this myself,

I would like to blame his loses on being a bad driver or maybe those cars dont have a good hp and trq rating i dont know someone tell me what the hp and torque is on those things.

Thank you for reading and dont flame on how street racing is bad cause im sick of hearing it, the track by me just opened up so no more street for me.

sounds like a good race, there's nothing like racing in an automatic, lol. I know someone that has that same generation as that (his is a Talon). It's not that fast, but if it was a manual then I'm kinda surprised it didn't beat you. Now if it had been a TSi then you would of been GONE. lol :)

I say it was obvious you smoke him like that because of his car. My neighbor has an older eclipse and i beat her in my auto civic. In my opinion, autos are just as good as manuals, UNLESS you really, really know how to use one, thats just my opinion though. I've beat plenty of manuals, and lost to more automatics too.

i forget to mention something. If you raced a Turbo eclipse, even an old one like that one, you will get beat off your rocks!

uh...not really at all. auto civics are MUCH slower then manual vic's. my boy w/ his 2k1 civic auto w/ intake got spanked by a 5 speed 91 paseo with a driver that is below average (he flat out sucks). 5 speeds are faster...there isn't a question about it. (on hondas)

i kno i wasn't there, but 4 cars is a LONG ways...that'd mean that guy runs around an 18 sec 1/4 mile time...if it was jus the base gs model, then it comes w/ 92hp/105 trq...but in a car that only weighs around 2500 lbs. 'm not doubting u beat him at all (because that is completely believable) but i do find the distance a lil tough to believe...

I've beat many more manuals than automatics. I've beat manual civics, eclipse, malibu, a really old celica and so on and so on. I've got beat by an automatic prelude Si, civics, Chevy S-10, Eclipse and others. That's why I said that. Don't get me wrong I have been beaten by Manuals, exscpecially the supras, 300z's and integra r's round here.

uh...welll look at the cars ur comparing. the auto tranny's aren't going to slow those cars down THAT much, but if u put them up against their manual counterparts, the manuals would be faster (w/ a decent driver)

O.K., i get what you're sayin' now.

I dont know how the NA eclipse and the turbo w/ no turbo would compare, but I know a kid with a 92 eclipse turbo, but for some reason his turbo doesnt spool up. that car is the slpowest thing I think ive ever riden in. my civic with the ZC, auto, and fuel cutoff at 3400(bad sensor or wiring) feels probably just as fast.
