Spark plug wire compatibility

I went to a junkyard last weekend to get a strut mount from a 1990 Integra. I have a 1998 Acura Integra LS so I knew that the suspension was compatible. When I popped the hood on the thirteen year old integra I peeped a set of red plug wires. It seemed to be the only thing on the engine that didn't have oil and greased on it. Considering the compatiblility differences I grabbed them and proceded to disasseble the strut assembly. When I got home I cleaned the plug wires to look brand new. The hot red is an eyefull. I stripped out my plain stock plug wires and threw in the reds. They fit like a glove.
Well today I was on my way back to work from lunch and all of a sudden a pop came from my engine and I lost a considerable amount of power. I was barely able to reach 45mph. Not knowing what it was I pulled off of the road to investigate, fearing it might be the head gasket.
I used to have a 88 Acura Integra and blew a head gasket once and it was similar with this incident.
When I popped the hood I noticed the plug wire had slipped out of the distributor. I secured it back on and got in and it fired right up with no problem. Later I inspected the plug wires and noticed that the metal clip on the distributor side of the wires were stretched out so it didn't fit so well on my distributor. A little adjustment with some needle nose pliers and it fits snug as a bug on the distributor.
They work great.
Just thought I would pass this knowledge to some of you.
