My 01 grand prix 3.8 n/s gt 147,000 miles is haveing fuel issues. I used to get around 340 for full tank of gas now im at about 280-300. Heres is what i have done in the past year./ New fuel filter, oxygen sensors, exhaust system, full tune up (ac delco) plugs, wires, pcv valve, MASS sensor, egr valve, fuel injector cleaner, IAC valv, IAT sensor, K&N airfilter.
I just pulled the front plugs again and checked them. ( i dont know what for honestly but they looked fine and the gap was the same). I see no fuel leaks in the motor or under the car. I also checked the coolant system and it is good looking. radiator is also new. No problem issues that i can think of.
HOWEVER:when i am sitting at idle sometime i can smell gas just a faint smell of sweet sweet gas. NO codes or idle issues just want to get some ideas..thanks guys also, has anyone seen these resistors that make the computer think that your car is running colder than it actually is. ive seen them on ebay for like 20 bucks and they promise better MPG, just wanted to get your thoughts. on them

SOunds like a winter blend of gas to me. We have all lost milage due to seasonal gas. (me included). Wait untill about april or may and see what you are getting for milage.

I agree Tim. I only get about 17-19 during the winter, and 21-23 during the warmer months. And it's not due to excessive warm up time, because I rarely go out and start my car prior to leaving for work (unless it's below 15 F).

Agreed with the guys above. Winter gas sucks in my area. About the resistor, it will tell the car its a bit cooler air coming in and will add some timing. It will not add much of anything for power or mpg increase. You can get a resistor at radio shack and will only cost you a few cents. Not worth is IMO.

The resistor mod is junk. tricking the car into running colder just adds fuel. Which at the end the O2 sendor will see rich and compensate by leaning the mixture. Don't waste your money on that dopy resistor mod.
