I have a 98 Grand Prix GT with 183,xxx on it and I am looking at getting new rear struts because the right rear is clunking really bad and the back hops out when taking left turns. I am going to replace both rear struts and was wondering whats a good affordable strut assembly. So far I have been looking and found the KYB Strut Plus assembly for about $290 for the pair http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/1998/pontiac/grand_prix/suspension/strut_assembly.html Monroe strut assembly for $290 from strutmaster http://www.strutmasters.com/QUICK-STRUT-ASSEMBLY-p/-monroe-171662l-13259.htm or they also have there house brand EZ strut assembly for $255 its a Chinese strut with a life time warranty http://www.strutmasters.com/97-05-Grand-Prix-EZ-Strut-p/ezs-248738-pg-lr.htm. Does any one know the difference in these struts and or used them? Do they really come with every thing i am going to need to put them in or is there some other parts i am going to have to order?

One more thing my alarm goes off all the time for no reason some one sid that it says in the owners manual how to change the sensitivity on it but i dont have an owners manual can any one help me? The only thing i can think that might be setting it off is the aftermarket radio that was in there when i bought it or the keyless remote that the batter has been weak since i bought the car it only works form like 10 feet away.

The quick strut packages come with every thing needed and it makes it plug n play. Maybe not the two lower strut to steering knuckle bolts/nuts but you can reuse the old. Go with the KYB brand. After the Monroes break-in you find they are too soft and do not compare to the original GT suspension system.

Depending on which content alarm system you have you can adjust sensitivity by pulling the headlamp switch. I might have a PDF file owner's manual. Also, some GPs have an adjustable shock sensor located at the left side of the dash to adjust sensitivity. Also, we have many old historical old posts on the issue.

On the key fob distance have you tried a new battery. CR2032?
