97 Cirrus v6 LXI Transmition metal Alloy problem

I live in NJ and recently replaced the transmission high pressure cooling line because the original one completely rusted and rotted away! During the replacement of the line, I also noticed the metal transmission side cover is also in a state of bad decay and in need of immediate replacement as well.

When I bought the replacement Trans Line, the part had been out of stock for about 2 months with 200 on back order, so I suspect that I'm not the only owner who has had this part and possible others just rot/rust away.

-----Question to other Cirrus owners------
I suspect that the metal alloy Mitsubishi used for these parts is the problem and not just isolated to me. Is anybody else having this problem, or is it just me?

Also Does any know other parts on the car that I should inspect so I'm not replacing 1 part per month for the next year ? :)

Note:Trans cover plate that has almost rotted through is located behind the front driver wheel and can been seen when the plastic battery cover is removed)

Thanks in advance for your replies,
John
