serpentine belt

when changing the serpentine belt on 1998 lesabre. do you have to take a motor mount loose, thanks

Yes. It is a messed up deal isn't it? I am in the process of putting mine back on and I had loosen the mount from the engine just to remove the belt.

I just did this a few weeks ago. I have a VIN K model & I did NOT have to remove the mount. I DID have to remove the nut and stud just formard of the mount. You take the right front tire off, remove the splash guard, remove the nut and then the stud. At that point you can jack the engine up from under the oil pan using a hyd jack and a 2x4 just enough to get the belt out.
