i am having similar issues. i have to jump it in morning but once it runs.... it runs great. i had horrible starting and stalling issues in the 97 blazer... changed the ignition switch, fuel filter plugs, batt, alt, and after replacing the ignition switch it turned right over... ran perfect then next morning, had to re jump and takes a try or two to turn over but boy when it does it is like new.

had issues starting for about a month...
battery would slowly drain till no power while cranking over...
if it did turn over it might give a small fuel burb...
it might turn right over one afternoon
the next day i would have to jump it...this got worse and worse
sometimes jumping took lot of cranks/minutes... yes or no...random...
jumped worked most of the time..
changed alternator,
replaced battery...
seemed to solve it...
days later car begins to stall...
most of the time if it stalled it would not restart.
random... stalls hot/cold after exiting freeway, while driving on freeway...
sometimes would drive fine for 10 miles or so then stall...
sometimes would drive all day without stalls...
dash seemed to have ZERO power one minute....
worked the next... if the dash elements were on~it turned over (of course while jumping) ...
might stall immediately after putting car in drive...
might run fine after putting in drive (all jumping) ...
fuel in the intake...turned over 2 out of 3 times (while jumping) ...
fuel filter changed...
plugs changed...
discovered 97 ignition switch issue and changed that...
car cranked right over the first try by itself. shocked the hell out o me
ran amazingly....LIKE NEW. transmission even shifted again.
cranked over all day...
next day...no joy till jump start...
runs amazing once the car is on... turns of and on one or two cranks...
all day will turn over till cold in morning and repeat....
battery cleaned and tightened terminals.
tightened all intake, vacuums, and wires/harness dealing with ignition.
hear the pump when turn key on couple seconds.
o2 sensors have been replaced within a year or two all (4?)
4-6 years ago dealership recalled my car for clogs in the spider injectors... not sure if they changed the injectors or just replaced the part? thought i read somewhere dealership might change out faulty injector but could be mistaken.
hope this helps thanks you guys and sorry for the long post

thread title should be 97 haunted blazer
more clues just in case...sorry again and thanks
fuel gauge stopped working~ reads full, one or two of my stalls might have been due to actually running out of gas? at least that was my assumption.
i placed a meter on the battery while car was off read 12.6 (approx?) but will check when running...
once ignition switch changed, headlights/volt gauge and dash lights dim for a second if touch window switch... this is new... never did that before ever...
replaced the cat converter 6 months ago because engine suffocating...
6 months ago had a misfire code in cylinder #6...took out plug, cleaned off the black tar-like buildup...reinstalled...code gone...but this week while changing the plugs noticed the gunk buildup was back... replaced all plugs... misfire in #6 is obviously a problem (maybe a clue) but code off and seems fine for now...
service engine light has been blinking for at least a year....codes reset...engine light would pop back(blinking)on... ALWAYS ON BLINKING
it stopped blinking finally and.... OFF NOW! one good thing... maybe i can smog it now>?
thanks

The blinking SES light is for a misfire, hence the black gunk on your plug. Good thing it's off now.
It really sounds like you're having electrical issues, perhaps with ground wires. I'd remove, check & clean every ground wire and see where you get. Also, I'd check the battery cables closely - they can look good but be corroded or breaking away from the ends.
The fuel gauge could be a stuck float in the tank or it could be a bad sending unit or bad gauge, but it also could be a loose/bad ground wire for the instrument cluster.

has been blinking for at least a year....codes reset...engine light would pop back(blinking)on... ALWAYS ON BLINKING
it stopped blinking finally and.... OFF NOW!
It's still there, stored as H (history), instead of C (current), and it will stay there forever and ever amen uh huh, until fixed, by person, not un-haunting.
Best place to start is the short detection in the other thread. It is explained as clearly as anybody can, to fix the problem, and probably some other problems also.
