Turn signal arm

My 1997 GMC Jimmy had the turn signals fail. The hazards worked after this failure, but I note today they have also failed. The other functions on the arm work: wipers, headlight bright/dimmer, not sure about cruise and the "mist" wiper fluid sprayer didn't seem to work but did previously.
The fuse (a 20A in number 16 slot) is fine. I'm assuming the 3 relays in the glove box are for the throttle body, etc. I wonder if it's a mechanical failure of the turn signal arm internally? I'm going to get one and plug it in. The 'repair kit' for the internals seems a waste of time and money.

Not real sure of your exact year, but the turn signal switch is actually called a Multifunction Switch and they do go bad. And in case you were wondering, they ain't cheap either. About half of all the electrical circuits on the vehicle pass through this switch. The one on my '93 went out, that's how I know. Make sure the flasher for the turn sinal and the Hazard lights both work before tearing into the steering column, replacing the Multifunction switch is a big job.
