Flashing dash lights, but engine starts

The dash lights in my 2003 Regal have started flashing, just turning the ignition switch to on will make them flash, however the engine will start(lights still flashing). The engine will start and idle but if I try to add a little throttle it will sputter and die. I checked all the grounds I could find, battery connections, etc. nothing loose, and all connections were clean. Other posts have suggested defective ignition switch, or ECM. Any other suggestions? Car has 70k miles on the clock.

okay, this is going to throw you for a loop, i have no idea on what an ignition switch is. Is it the key hole, that cylinder? Im thinking I need to know becouse reading through these posts it seems to be a common problem in regals.
