Welcome!
When I bought tires my two choices were between the goodyear eagles, or the bf goodrich ta's. I ended up going with BF, and they have been good tires. 50k on them already, so they are getting down there, but still have decent tread left. When I buy new tires I'll probably go with goodyear once just to try them out.
Have you read the tire reviews on www.tirerack.com?
Good place to start. Consumers rate and report on the tires they have. Its really neat.

welcome to the forum! i have Goodyear Eagle #1's on my GT, and love em. Here's a link to them on Tirerack.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Goodyear&tireModel=Eagle+%231+NASCAR&partnum=26SR6E1NASRWL
they are asking $138 a piece on there. i would look at your local Goodyear dealer and see if they can get them. I got mine for $121 a piece locally.
i can post a few pics of them on the car if you'd like. They look really nice IMO

The Goodyear Eagles are nice tires. The Eagle GT is the newest product and also a low price. For a highte dry traction and quieter ride look at the O.E. Eagle RS-A. Whatever you buy be sure to check the tires DOT code to ensure it is a fresh tire. Most tire shops will document this number on your bill. Over a year and a half old, ask for a newer one.
The Eagle NASCAR #1 is a nice looking tire but is based on an older product, the Eagle ST, long discontinued. Up here in canada the Eagle #1 was discontinued about 4 years ago.

The RS-A's are ok for summer...but not the best for snow if the car will be driven in the winter.

:screwy: are you sure the eagle #1 was discontinued? i know the RGL (raised gold letter) eagle #1 was discontinued apx 4-5 years ago but was also a limited edition. The RWL (raised white letter) is still being made. They are very hard to find though, and on back order in most places.
another good tire to look into is the Goodyear Assurance Comfortred.

O.Kay... I stand corrected, it's the gold letter one I was thinking about. As for the RWL, it's now only made in P225/60R16 size.
Fastbandits '06 should be clad in P225/55R17 and the Comfortred is a smooth running H rated tire. They just released the newer updated version called the Comfortred Touring with a bumped up speed rating of V.

haha, oops...guess i stand corrected as well :uhoh:. i didnt realize we are talking about an '06 GT which yes...uses P225/55/17. Eagle #1 is only made in a 225/60/16.

Welcome! I have a 99 Grand Prix. I have had 3 sets of tires on them since I bought the car new. The original tires were Goodyear Eagle st I believe and they were good quiet, good grip tires but only got me 30,000 miles before I had to replaced them. My second set were the Goodyear aquatread recommended to me by the Goodyear dealer. They sucked! I couldnt wait to get rid of them. The set I have on the car now is by far the best set of tires I driven on with this car. They are Uniroyal Tiger Paws. I bought them at the local BJ's warehouse for under $100 a tire inclubing installation and road hazard. I thought they wouldnt be that good but I didnt have the funds for the BIG name tires but was I wrong. These tires give me a very smooth ride great handling no vibration at 80mph plus and have 40,000 miles on them looks like I can get another 20,000 out of them. Good luck with your tire search just thought I'd add my 2 cents.
