1989 accord lx header removal

I need to replace my steering rack and evidently my header needs to be removed during this process.
Now, I know this car is old and the header has probably never been removed before. Am I playing with fire here? Is there a good chance I can break a bolt off due to the age of the vehicle? I've heard of people breaking off studs and having a major headache repairing it.
Or is this a simpler task than i'm thinking. Any advice?
