1993 ranger, manual trans, 70'000 miles.

About 2 months ago the truck wouldn't start; it just made a clicking sound. I opened the hood and checked my battery connects(looked ok to me.) Messed around with some wires on the solonoid and battery. Tried it, and it started up fine. No problems for over a month. Recently it has started doing the same thing more frequently. Today, it was doing it and i couldn't get it to crank.

ideas? I'm thinking it's electrical rather then the actual starter. I'm really not so hot with wiring/electrical problems. where is a good place to start?

The truck runs fine after starting.

thanks in advance

Update: So i went over with a buddy of mine and we put the truck in gear and rocked it back and forth a bit. He said it would turn the starter. After doing this a few times the car started. Now it's starting. Though i am guessing the problem is still there.

Thought this might help you guys have a better idea what might be causing this.

thanks again

Rocking the car back and forth while in gear will NOT move the starter. You have what appears to be a faulty wire somewhere. More than likely it is on the starter itself. Rechekc the wires and remove and clean the pos and neg terminals. Good luck
