I am hoping someone can at least verify what I am being told is accurate before I go any further. I am a complete idiot when it comes to auto repair.
First---my blower motor stopped, when I turn on the AC or heat, it looks like its on but nothing blows.
I took it to the auto repair place and they fixed a blower motor resistor and it started blowing again.
But--- now they tell me it only blows HOT, no AC....asked if this was an issue before the motor stopped and I said no. I live in AZ so I need my cool!
Next---the guy calls me back and says the dealer wants about $1,000 for a new EATC (electronic automatic temperture control)
He said a used one, if he can locate it costs about $500.
I did not even ask about the labor involved because I am not even trusting them since it took them 2 days to diagnose it to begin with.
Can anyone offer any comments?
Does this diagnosis sound correct?
Do these $$$ sound accurate?
Thanks for any feedback

After doing some research online, I found something which I was able to try and maybe this helps someone.
Here is what I found:
Remote Climate Control Module Self-Test
To enter the self-test, press the OFF and floor buttons simultaneously and then press the AUTO button within two seconds. The display will show a dashed line in the center of the climate control display window of the integrated control panel (ICP).
The test may run as long as 30 seconds. Record all DTCs displayed. The self-test is completed when 888 appears in the center of the climate control display window of the ICP.
Let me know what code you got. If you didnt get a code go ahead and run your ac system and see if its working now. It just might be. Let me know.
Ok, well I did this test as described, and at the end a code popped up of 025 which depressed me because I figured that must mean it does have issues. I was hoping for the 888 but no go.
BUT, when I turned the AC on, BINGO!!!!
It worked great!
I have NO idea what happened or why it works or if it will continue to work but today its working. For the moment I have saved myself $1,000.
So, maybe this post helps someone, maybe not. I am curious what the code 025 means just in case this is a temporary fix.
Thanks

The 025 code is a intermittent fault for the blend door actuator. The EATC module on these cars rarely fail, but a failed blend door actuator is very common. My BDA acted up for about a year before I had to replace it.

I am guessing that my EATC module also did not fail and they just misdiagnosed it?
Or worse, trying to give me a screwgie?
It seems odd that with a little research online, I found the code and now know exactly what it is and this place just wants to replace the entire module.:disappoin

After finding the solution to my problem, it seems it has returned. It's only blowing hot air. Last month I had it recharged since it was 3yrs since it had been so I assumed that was the issue. Well, in one month all the cool is gone again.
But here is the weird thing, maybe someone can explain it to me. Just for the heck of it, I wanted to run the Remote Climate Control test again, just as I had before, with the hope that my cool would suddenly return.
The thing is, I can't seem to get that test to run.....when I press the OFF/Floor button, nothing happens. The last time it worked like a charm and did exactly what it said it would do, dashed line, code at the end.....but this time, I cant make it work.
It's like I got one crack at doing it and now it wont return!
Is there anyone who is familiar with this test?
The car needs to be off right?
Any input would be appreciated, its 160 in Arizona today:-)
