ranger blinkers are killing me

89 ford ranger keeps blowing the fuses for the blinkers, sometimes they will work for about 20 miles, next time they will go instantly. When they do work they flas very fast. The hazard lights all work fine. I bought a new flasher and put it in, and they worked, and blinked normally, then after about 20 miles the fuse blew again.

Apperantly the new flasher made somewhat of a difference because they went from going very fast, to blinking normally.

Any help would be great on how to fix this problem or even where to start. I do have a multimeter (analog one). Just not very skilled with using it, not sure what settings to put it in. Just got that so I am still trying to figure it out. I am guessing maybe a bad ground, would just like to try and verify it before I jump into a whole bunch of wires. Again thanks alot foir any help!!!!

Usually quick blink indicates missing load. A bulb out. Does it blink too fast on both sides?
I would pull the turn /brake bulbs and check for a burned socket or bulb connecter. Since changing clicker altered something check the clicker and the socket for burned spots. A little carbon can cause big problems at 12 volts.
