2003 sentra trans is slipping when car first started

Hello,
I just purchased a 2003 sentra. I didn't notice any problems with the car shifting until really I got the car home. Now everytime I start up the car, the first few gear shifts are sluggish and delayed, then finally the rpms jump and the car shifts. However, after those first few akward shifts, the car is fine and there is no problem with the shifting or transmission. What could be causing such a limited slipping problem? The trans oil level is fine and is still a nice red color. Any ideas? Really don't want the trans to be needing replacing had the car under 24 hours.

How many miles on the car? Do you know the history, if ATF has ever been changed? If its really new-looking, check for leaks, sure sounds like its low. ATF expands alot as it warms up. Just to be sure, did you check the level with the engine/trans warmed up, with engine running in Park? Best-case scenario is that someone recently changed the ATF and didn't put enough back in.
