hey guys, i've been seeing alot of high preformance oil commercials(Royal Purple, Z-Max, Quick Restore, etc...). Most of them claim to "microlubricate" your pistons and chamber and restores older engines and gains HP. Is any of that true? Are they allteh same or are certain ones better than other? Any input would be apprciated.

I really don't believe any of their claims for those products and would refuse to put them in my engine.

Royal Purple is very good oil, tests prove it. As for oil additives, those are mostly bullshit.

just use a good known brand like mobil 1 or castrol syntec. They also have some special oils for high mileage engines.

Basically the only thing that gives some of these brands any advantage is being synthetic. Smaller molecular structure allows it to be more slippery, therefor minimizing friction, hence gaing a couple HP. But, in slightly worn engines the smaller atoms of the synthetic cause it to slip around rings and seals. Causing leaks and oil consumption. There is no "bonding" occuring between any oil or aditive to pistons ect.... Basically if you change your oil frequently there really is no need for the extra cost of synthetic.

How frequently you change your oil has nothing to do with how it performs, synthetic will always perform better.

hmm...

you're comparing royal purple oil (which is really high quality stuff)

with additives like z max.

compare oils to oils...

use a high quality oil as noted...

royal purple falls under high quality oils for me...
