I have a 93 s10 blazer 217,000 miles on it that has a vibrating sound( is the only way I can describe it) I did find out the rear wheel bearings were bad so I replaced those. Also replaced both front hubs bearing assemblies still have the vibration. I was going to test my main drive line to see if it was out of balance by dropping the drive line and placing the rig in 4 wheel hi and driving it. To see if the vibration stopped. Will this work or is it a bad idea?

I did notice the lower ball joint on the passengers side is bad could this cause a vibration?

Thanks for any assistance I get.

Does the vibe increase with speed? How bout in neutral goin' 55? Reverse, maybe in a parking lot?

Thanks for answering I did some serious road testing today and the vibration does increase with speed. Even if I put it in Neutral or hold the clutch in I can still feel it. Although not as bad as with the drive train engaged. Not sure about in reverse because it just starts showing up bad around 40 miles an hour.

There is no clunking like a bad U joint when I start out, and I can't shake any of the drive shafts by hand.

Good testing, but now, how bout at speed, STICK in neutral, clutch pedal let go???

Shouldn't matter, but check CLOSELY, before we narrow it down...

clutch out still there, noticed a clicking sound when backing it up today so I strongly suspect a bad CV joint on the right front side. Also get a clunk when I step get on it a bit coming form the same area.

Could be a CV joint. Test that by turning the wheel lock to lock while holding steady speed backing up, like you were. At some point, it will change the click sound.

Clunk sound could also be the hood hinge bushing. See youtube 'Blazer / Clunk' video.

Had the hinge clunking even though it is a 93, fixed that so that noise is gone thank god. I will do the other test today while backing up. I guess I should have mentioned the clunk sounded just like a bad U joint only that it was coming from the front right side. Thanks for your help

Ran that test and the clicking did not seem to be there at all never heard it once, actually haven't heard it since that first time. So back top square one LOL.

I know the clutch seems to be about gone the slightest pressure on the clutch pedal and it slips.

OK was able to do some more testing and I think I have located the problem. Removed my shifter boot and the cover, got a stethoscope an placed it on the housing for the transmission and boy what a racket did not sound smooth at all like it should. Every time I shifted gears sounded like the guts were going to fall out.

To make sure I wasn't hearing things I also did the same test on my 87 blazer which is also a 5 speed. Did not get the noise I got on my 93, it sounded smooth and while shifting I heard hardly any noise at all.

So it looks like I need a new tranny or to rebuild the one I have. I read somewhere that they came with a Borg Warner T5 in the first generation Blazers. I do have a 5 speed in my 87 I have to find out if it will swap over. If anyone has any info the help would be appreciated.
