Chevrolet El Camino 1966

Hi again,


I saw a cool picture of a '67 el camino on the internet some times ago, and I thought it would be cool to build a kit like the picture I saw. However, the 67 el camino kit was really hard to find ( if they made any ), so I turned to the next best thing,I bought a revell's 66 el camino from a local hobbystore. The paint is the combination of black and metallic red from tamiya. I lowerd the ride heights, changed the wheel with a set of wheels from hoppin' hydros (20" monster tora rims if I'm not mistaken) and wired the engine.

It looks excellent! You've done well especially with the paint! Chip Foose would be proud! The car you used for inspiration appeared in an ad with Foose if I recall correctly ( which sometimes I do not!).

just bein a stickler but you added decals on the model when the pic doesn't have any...

but it looks great. everything fits nicely together

being that it is an unfamiliar kit to me, I would have to say that the decals (I presume you are talking about the fender badging) is molded in, and there fore would have to be removed. Some times you just want to get the model done to put it on the shelf and it takes a lot more time to remove badging than it does to just put the decal on it.

I have to say well done. it's beautiful. You really nailed it. I imagine that it wouldn't be difficult to swap the '67 malibu/chevelle front end to the body of the 66 'camino. I don't think the rear end is any different, if only slightly in the tail light area.
