Just curious if anyone seen this before. My niece has a 1996 Grand am with a 3.1 motor. We found power steering fuild on the drivers side floor.Looks like the rack is bad. From outside there is a little on the bottom of the rack on the firewall top of rack and hose fittings are dry.Inside there is clear boot that covers the column and it has some fuild in it.Never seen power steering fuild get inside before.

Hi, The main shaft the turns the gear that moves the steering shaft from left to right comes up through the fire wall and hooks onto the universal at the bottom of your steering column. If the seal went out there yes it could leak some fluid inside. It would have to have a leak inside the housing to leak fluid there. They are fun to change the rack. Hope this helps!! Passnbyu

Yes this does.Sounds like that seal blow out and allow the fulid to run along the plastic cover that must cover the entire shaft from the outside to inside.Took a good look at it through the wheel wells and doesn't look to bad to change just time consuming.Waiting on my niece she want get a used rack I want her to get a new one.

Thanks
