Oil light

while driving to work in my 87 wagon, a few things happened i want to ask about. a sudden stop at a light caused a light on the dash to flicker but i didn't see which one. i kept an eye on it and tried to make it happen again but nothing. as i'm driving the heat goes cold but comes back a few minutes later. at that point, i assumed it was the coolant light that flickered. my 84 did that when the radiator was bad and the heat would come and go. the temp gauge was fine so i kept going and would check it later. later in the commute i had to make two quick turns one left and one right. when i "whipped" it the light did it again. after parking i turned the car off so all lights would come on and it was the oil light. i plan on checking the oil and coolant levels in a few hours when it settles and before i drive again. other than low levels, what may haved caused it and are they possibly connected(flickering oil light and heat go cold and back to hot)?

the oil sender/connector wires to it may be the cause..
