I decided to share with you the results of my last project.

It starts couple years before and stuck on the engine for a time.

Now I continued cuting out the doors and making doorway with styrene and putty.

Note Evergreen plastic tube. It will serves as a hinge .

I very like the idea of Alex Kustov to make simple door hinge (which he used in one of his Farrari).

Plastic tube inside the door is putting on a cooper pin glued to the saddleback board.
To eliminate the gap between interior tub and chassis mounted piece of tunel I glued some pieces of styrene to it:

It is Revell's red clear multiple coats. What do you think about it?
By the way, which varnish should I use for finish? How about "Future"? I also have "Humbrol" and TS-13.

Color looks great. Future is fine, as long as you know how to apply it uniformly. It is rather thin and runs easily.

Alex, how much time should I wait between Future layers?

Be careful with the future, you might want to use Tamiya acrylic clear. The Revell clear red is enamel right?

BTW I like the paint. I've been looking for a paint match for the jaguar jd4 monza red for the longest time. I'm building and xj220 myself. It was driving me insane so now I'm going with tamiya mica silver for the body and dark grey interior. Lol

It's just that future is very thin. You will have to spray alot of thin coats. Future runs easily.

I think the ones on the right will accent the body paint better.

Manometr is made of a piece of aluminium tube plus punched styrene, the handle is bended of tin. I also designed and printed the decal.

Great idea with the covers for the front wheel wells.

I'm building this same kit at the moment (though as a GT racer) and was wondering what to do with the wheel wells. You found a very elegant and effective solution, which I'm glad to corporate into my build.

Thank you. Unfortunately the top coat turn out not hard enough. There are couple tiny dents on the body I found after polishing.

Umm, I Think You're insane, no offense =) That is very impressive detailing. I never opened any doors on a kit so I've never thought about the rubber seals on the door sills. I've put this thread to my favorite links so that I can keep up easily. You have serious modelling skills!

Unfortunatelly, when it comes to final assembling of all the modified parts, it goes harder and longer then you planed. Some parts reject to fit their places, even though you test fit them before without problem. So now I have to knock down the doors and adjust door trims and window frames again.:runaround:

This thread just keeps getting better! I enjoy watching you progress. Keep going man. If I could offer one thought: Don't worry about being perfect.
