Alarm activated by garage door opener

Last week my Intrigue was parked in the garage with the door down. As I approached home in the wife's car I hit the opener & the Intrigue's horn was going off & on. I thought that was strange as I didn't even know it could do that after 6 years or so of owning it. I thought the security system was a disable type system, I wasn't aware of the audible alarm. I checked & there's no way that the door clipped the bumper or made contact in anyway.

Now today the Olds was parked on the drive. I came out through the garage & hit the button on the wall to open the garage door & it did the same thing. Both times I put the key in the ignition & the horn stopped.

As far as I know there is no after market security, I only have the stock keyless fob. I've never had the horn active from leaning on it, wind or anything else.

The only other strange thing that's never happened before was that after jumping a set of railroad tracks the car shutoff last week. I put it in N & it started right up & off I went.

Is my garage door opener some how setting off the alarm? Or are the two related?

Thanks.

No, you don't secretly have a car alarm... What you're describing here is the panic alarm, which can be activated by pressing the red button on the remote.

I suppose it's possible that your garage door opener remote is mimicking the Intrigue's panic button signal. Most garage door openers will let you change the frequency by hold some button on the unit and the remote at the same time. You may want to try that...
