hi, this may sound like an absolutely retarded question, but im trying to prevent rust on my 1989 trans am gta. the car is in mint condition, but im sure it has no rust proofing on it whasoever. i'm currently keeping it in my garage during the winter, but i can't always keep it there, so i sometimes have to keep it on my driveway, where there is road salt. before putting it on my driveway i usually hose it down or try to rinse the salt off with buckets of warm water.

do i have anything to worry about? or am i being too serious about keeping salt away from my car, especially the undercarriage and wheel wells/fenders?

Unless you have a climate controlled garage: It's not even safe in there. See in our climate, especially coming up here soon, moisture seeps up through the concrete, especially cracked, and where there's moisture, metal will slowly rott. Sad it is.

Common areas to watch, the lower windshield pillars, under the mirror housings, lower a pilars (from the windsheild lieak), front seat supports/surrounding area (also from the windshield leak), quarter panel directly over the wheels. Also, where the T/A is concerened, under plastic body panel molds (ground effects).
