93 S10 Blazer fuel pump question

my brothers fuel pump went out and we got his tank off today and with his new fuel pump it has a rubber hose about 2-3 inches long, but where his old pump is, there is the pulsator there, do you take the pulsator off and install the rubber hose? What does the pulsator do? What would it do not having it on there and just using the rubber hose that came with the pump?

The instructions that comes with the new pump should tell you, but in my case when my pump went out in my 93, I left the Pulsator in and it did not hurt anything. I read the directions afterwards and it said to take it out. I replaced mine with a Bosch pump. Most of the newer replacement pumps don't need the Pulsator. What brand of pump are you installing?

Here is another tip. When I replaced my pump, the brand new 4 inch O-ring that came in the box with the new pump was too thin. Do yourself a favor and go to the dealership and buy a brand new gasket that is made for your truck. The tank on mine ended up being dropped a second time and the proper size O-Ring was installed because the truck would not pass the pressure test at the emissons station.

Mine didn't leak at all. It simply would not hold the pressure. Do your self a favor and buy the right gasket.
