Hello everyone,

I would like to have your feeling on my next model.
I want to put into the market before "Le Mans Classic" for the 40th anniversary of its first success in the 24 hours of Le Mans.

Limited Edition of the Porsche 917 Engine at 1/6th scale. Under License
Not available as a kit. I have no idea about the price at this stage.

Prototype only. Mounted on a base with a museum quality acrylic case.

:eek2:This looks fantastic!!! The only problem for me is that probably will be out of my price range, by the details and finish of the prototype looks like a quite accurate and superbly finish model of an automotive racing icon.

Dear Grey900,

I´ve seen your amazing work last weekend in Hamburg (Museum Prototyp). http://www.prototyp-hamburg.de

You and your clerks did an absolut fantastic job there. It was a pleasure to see them in comparison to the real Gulf 917.

To your question.... I think nearly everyone of us here from the AF wants to have one of your models. But, as an employee with an average salary, they´re absolut out of my price range. Due to the price and the work of your complete 917 (9.890,00 EUR) I think the price for the engine will be nearly between 1.500 - 2000,00 EUR. I´m right? For an availlable kit (as I prefer), I think the time would be valuable enough to save money for it.

I wish you the best for the success of your brand. It is worth!!!

Dirk

Hello,

Thanks for your messages. :)
I will try my best to propose this engine between 700 and 1 000 €. I need to make at minimum 50 or 100 engines. keep in touch !

Hi Gregy,

The engine looks fantastic! I would love to have it as a kit too, but I'm well aware you would be allowing yourself to be ripped-off by less honest individuals, if you do. Large scale kits seem to be copied more often by these criminals for some reason...easier to cast perhaps?

If I had a criticism of it it would be the fibreglass pieces, only because I've messed around trying to do some on my 1/12th engines. I'd look at trying to create those parts with real grp cloth (very fine weave, used for model aircraft construction) as at this scale the pattern is very noticable. I am aware it would add a lot of time to the model build though and guess you may have tried this already? Maybe airbrushing some texture through a woven material as a second idea?

I tried to contact you at the Goodwood Festival of Speed after speaking to some of the 917 pit boys about doing a 1/8th version...you'd beaten me to it with your 1/6th model minutes before! LOL! Everywhere I went people said 'this guy has just been round displaying a nice 1/6th 917!

Finally found it in the Porsche restaurant and very good it is too! Hopefully we can finally hook up at the Le Mans Classic sometime (tickets booked already!).

Also hoping to do some work with Museum Prototyp in the future myself!

Good luck with it,

John S

Meant to say the price is very good too - a lot cheaper than the 356 Porsche 4-cam job from Italy (it was €4000 IIRC).

Hi John,

I'm happy in reading your post and thanks about all your comments and suggestions !

You're right, i don't won't to propose my engine as a kit for the reasons you have mentioned, and also for another reason. As my Company are under License from Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, i can't only delivered to my clients a kit which need to be prepared, painted etc.

About the fiberglass, this is very expensive and it take time to do this perfectly. Anyway, a replica model are available on special order. :p

The engine of the Porsche 356 is good model. Too expensive, but fully movable internals. I hope to sell more than 5 or 10 pcs of my 917 engine.

It was my very first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. You've only seen the prototype of my porsche 917 at this event. The definitive version are much better !

If you come at the Le Mans Classic, please do not hesitate to contact me. It will be a pleasure to meet you !

Thank you again.

Gregory
