Hey everyone, I'm new to the site, trying to repair my car at home and really need some advice. I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand AM GT (6 cylinder) and am trying to replace the ignition switch. I have removed the ignition switch and key cylinder from my car successfully, but i do not know how to remove the key lock cylinder from the broken ignition switch to put it in the new ignition switch. I bought a book which told me how to remove the ignition switch from the car (which I had already done lol) but it does not tell me any more.
Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

To pull the lock cylinder out of the switch, you have to disengage the lock.
Insert the key. Look for the cylinder lock detent on the side of the ignition switch about 3/4 way down the tumbler then depress and hold the button. While pressing, turn the key to ON/RUN and pull out the tumbler grom the switch.
The Park/Lock cable should also be remover with the key in the ON/RUN position.
