So anyway my cousin owned a 2000 Eclipse GT that he drove the hell out of and never had any major problems.I liked the tork the Eclipse had. The 6cyl. sounded nice n throaty to me. The Celi ended up being kind of a girly car to me (no offense). So I just bought this car that I explained in my last thread and the issue I have has to do with some heavy valve tap on cold start up for the mabe first 3-4 secs. then quiet. Two weeks after I bought the car I started to notice this sound. I check the oil before the next time I start it and it's barely registering :crying: So I add 1 qt of oil and still barely registering. I was puzzled. So I rush down the street to have the oil changed! No low oil press., no heating up, no lights till just recently. Still got the start up taps like the oil pressure is too low on start up. Car runs like new, no smoke or anything like that. Any one else had this?

Are you sure it is the valvetrain? The timing belt tensioner can make a clattery noise for a few seconds after you start it up too. I'd have to look to be sure but if it is valvetrain, sounds like the hydraulic tappets may be losing prime after it sits. If it were my car I wouldn't worry about it. The only thing you could do is replace all of em and do a good valve adjustment (has to be at operating temp to adjust the valves properly)
