Today I started with a new project, because the Blitz Skyline is in brake fluid, and the Corvette is waiting for the paint to arrive.

I choose to build a rare VW buggy kit from Tom Daniels.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_001_%28Medium%29~24.jpg

It contains not many parts, but it still looks ok for such an old kit.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_002_%28Medium%29~24.jpg

I'm thinking about leaving the roof away because I'm not sure if I like it or not, and the fittment is not good.

I'll try to make some new exhaust from aluminium on a lath and maybe some more parts.

The color is not yet decided but I'll go for something eye catching :)

Wow that's news for me :) Thanks for the tip, I'll watch out for it! And with a platform base included in the kit, maybe a little diorama is easy to made.

Today I spent some time by airbrushing the body.

First of all i had to decide what color I wanted to use....

That's not an easy job, but I thought Plum Crazy Purple Pearl would be nice.

First I needed to remove the moldlines and prime the body. After that I sanded the primersurface with #2500.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/verf_002_%28Medium%29~0.jpg

After that I painted the body with a couple of layers.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/verf_003_%28Medium%29~0.jpg

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/verf_006_%28Medium%29~0.jpg

I have 2 white playboy bunny decals which looks quite good on this color I think. So I'm thinking about adding them on the body.

My father also suprised me with two nice turned exhausts. First I wanted to make them myself, but as a beginner this is a quite hard shape to make. So he did it himself.

Yesterday I clearcoated the body with zero 2K clear, after adding the bunny decals and a metal VW badge.

The color is great I think, and suits a buggy very well. Off course it must be polished, and I'll take some sunny pics when that's done.

Kris your getting really good at using zero paints. The color is really a cool shade, but where did you get the bunny decals?

yesterday I polished the paint.

Used this method:

- Micromesh 4000 till 12000
- Commandant 3 Rubbing Compound
- Tamiya (red) Course
- Tamiya (blue) Rubbing Compound
- Tamiya (white) Finish
- Meguiare's wax

Now I have to mask the seats and paint them. I'm thinking about a white/blue combination.

New update :)

First I removed all chrome from the parts.

Then painted it gloss black and finally some Alclad II Chrome paint on it.

The tyres got some goodyear decals.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/engine_004_%28Medium%29.jpg

I painted the seats black/grey. Maybe not the best combination but I still like it anyway. This was done by hand, cause masking was a bit difficult to do...

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/engine_005_%28Medium%29.jpg

I also painted the dasboard with polished aluminium look. The steeringwheels came from my partsbox.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/engine_006_%28Medium%29.jpg

Painted and placed the rearlights.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/engine_007_%28Medium%29.jpg

A nice Playboy magazine is a must have item, with a Playboy theme ;D

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/engine_008_%28Medium%29.jpg

Painted the chassis and front axle.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/engine_010_%28Medium%29.jpg

The windowframe was also painted polished aluminium.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/engine_009_%28Medium%29.jpg

And I made a little flag for the antenna.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/engine_011_%28Medium%29.jpg

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/engine_012_%28Medium%29.jpg

The fuell tank is also painted alclad II chrome:
http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/engine_013_%28Medium%29.jpg

Now the best part. The engine.

I painted it with different metalizer paints like magnesium, aluminium and chrome. The exhaustpipes are painted alclad chrome and got some heatstaining as well.

The intakemanifold are cable connectors from aluminium. The exhausttips are made on a lath and are stainless steel. The oil fillercap is a knob from a watch :)
I also added some sparkplugwire and wire looms.
