well i dugg this revell kit i had started to hack over 5 years ago. the detail is ok, needs some work on cleaning up, the front wheels don't turn right or left, has poor fitment and mold flash just about everywhere even on the chrome pieces, and panel lines need attention as well. gotta fix some mistakes from years ago so it's scratch building time.

Nice, looks like a good kit. I like the moulded in arches and bonnet pins. Was it the Pete Brock race version originally? Wheels look good. It will be good to see progress so that I can compare to my four door version!

thanks bud. it's not the BRE version. it's the tuner. ill be replacing the hood and trunk pins with some PE pieces. i hope you enjoy it as much im enjoying your build.
had some time to work on it a bit. started cleaning the chassis a bit, and the main hoop for the roll cage. the stance and camber is what ill be going with. a bit extreme for some, but i like it.

Looking good! Wow that camber and stance are extreme indeed! I have seen some pictures on Japanese websites with that sort of stance and camber. I must admit it is a bit too extreme for me (looks a bit too much as if the car has been squashed by something very heavy to me) but as long as you like it that's what is important!

engine bay is gonna be a partial front tube chassis.

drilled some holes on the rivets as if they are missing, along with the side marker lights and key hole. part of the theme.

so, i haven't really done a lot to it. xmas weekend was just lazy! went to sleep late and woke up late, like half the day late.
so i just did some prepping for details. like lines and fittings. the engine bay is pissing me off again. but it's coming along ok. i got the wheels to stop wiggling around so they are set. made glued the strut arms to the control arms, made a rear sway bar, seperated the tranny from the L16 for the MAII, made a collector for the header , an adaptor sandwich for the oil cooler with return line fittin on oil pan, ill be using the "race" style pan on it and just some putty filling and sanding on the chassis.

The chrome on most models will come off fairly easily with the use of most any household cleaner, brake fluid or rubbing alcohol. DO NOT MIX ANY OF THESE FLUIDS!!!! poisonous gasses or chemical reactions (explosions or spontaneous boiling) may occur and could be quite harmful to you or the surrounding area, at the very least it could make a big mess.
Just pour some cleaner in a bowl, drop your parts in, come back a few hours later, and they should be fairly well stripped.

hey bud. brake fluid takes a little longer, dont know about acohol.
i use easy off oven cleaner. the one in the yellow can.
follow safety guides on can, can irritate skin and eyes.
just put the parts in a zip lock bag or plastic container with lid, spray the easy off on the parts and seal the bag/container. it takes just a minute or so. if not completely off, just keep spraying some on. you can see it come off. they you rinse with warm water and you should be good to go.

the one in the blue can should work, but if i recall it takes longer. the only thing ive heard alcohol being use, is to strip acrylic paints. but it has to be 90% alcohol. the other house hold item that works is bleach. but i dont recomend it at all.

Couple of questions - what did you use for the headers, is that bent solder? And what is that you're using for some of your custom body stuff, some sort of rigid foam?
rollin80s

thanks guys.
girchy, the header is solder. 1/16 diameter silver solder. the scratch building stuff is some styrene, tamiya 2 part epoxy putty (tan color) and the green stuff is putty as well. i have come to find that the tamiya putty is better for building up and the green is good for a filler. too much and it tends to shrink the plastic.

well, i have been a bit under the weather lately :( havent done much on this one, but heres a bit of an update. i painted the chassis, roll cage and front seats along with a couple of red circles. one on each side. but i had to stop there due to me running out of primer for other parts.. :headshake oh well, gives me a chance to buy some plasti-kote.

i was hoping to have the engine in already. but, its a tight squeeze and it will most likely be completed while it sits in the bay. i didn't plan ahead and well, its too lat to turn back. so ill most likely have updates tonight.

so heres what i have been up to lately.
so last night im over at my friends house. i see out of the corner of my eye some sort of compressor. so i asked him what it was and he said its his ooooolllldddd (he's 50 yo) airbrush compressor. he was cleaning out his stuff and found it. first thing he said was "do you want it?" i was heck yeah! turned it on and it works. only down side is that it doesn't have an on/off switch. only a power plug. no biggie. so i had bought some metalizers brass last weekend, i broke out the airbrush and i gotta say, stuff is great. heres the color compared to a brass hammer i have.
