Nice work. Good job with the fibre optics, the results look great. I'm interested to see how this progresses.

Welcome to AF. Thats the main thing i hated about this kit when i first examined it was the front lights. But your technique makes the whole kit look good. I think i might have to use your idea. The rear and headlights look great.

Thanks guys!

I made tony stark from a racingdriver from an old set by carving away the seatbelts and modify his clothes and hairdoo with putty.

The lightsource is an ultrabright white led 5mm witch ignites all of the fibers for the front and rear lights.
The headlight lenses are 3mm ultrabright white leds, they are also going to work, but even without light they look way better than the plastic bump that comes with the kit.

In the pictures the light looks too blue, irl they look very similar to xenon.

Thanks for looking:smile:

I have painted the R8 and found a carbonefibersheet to put on the sidepanels.

Are you going to drill out the lights holes for the fiber optics in the front light lenses? Or are they going right in back. I still find this light setup the best to date.

I think i am going to cut them on the inside of the glass.

A little update on the project!

Some more details added and the main lights are hooked up. They look too blue in the pics, but irl it looks just like xenon.

Powersource is a 9v battery, led for the headlights is 3mm utrawhite and for the rear and front led is 5mm ulttrawhite via fiberoptics.

I am no audifan neither, I bought this kit to experiment with lights.

I have some issues to fit all the fiber, wires and battery inside the car so i think this wil be put on some sort of diarama.
Then I can hide the battery in the base of the diorama.

Thanks for looking:smile:

That I find to be the eaiest option, especially since fibre optics aren't the most flexible when it's used in these scales. Good thing that you're replicating Tony Stark's car because then you could make your diorama his garage and include many other exotics into it :)

couldnt you just hide the battery under the hood? Then just not glue the body down if you ever want to change out the battery? that's what I was gonna do but put it in the trunk.

I tried that!

But the revell kit is made so that the body doesent really stick to the chassis, the result is that the R8 looks like a Q7....(NOT very pleasant to look at:uhoh:)

If this car is going to look good (With the fiber, leds and wires)I have to glue the chassis to the body, unfortunatley.

I think I have an idea for the base.....

Is there any website where one can design plates and print them out?

Thanks for looking.!

Nice R8! The lights turned out great. How were you able to hide the fibers?

Here's a plate for you.

The fibers are taped on the right inside of the body, they are quite flexible.

No problem!

The fibers are emitting whatever lightsource you are putting in on the oposite side.

The fibers are neutral.
