Hi all, i am new to this forum. My 94 Teg suddenly overheated last night. Both fans are not working and since i am no mechanic, i really have no ideal whether this is the problem or something more serious is causing this. Never got this problem before. Just wanted to know if the fans are both not working, would the engine overheat so quickly? I just changed the exhaust as well and there is a tiny bit of soot (brown?) coming out from there. Is this normal? THANKS ALL.:bandit:

The soot is normal. It means your burning a bit rich. It's actually closer to a black color. I was burning really rich a while back. It's sad when u wash ur car and realize that the back bumper was a different color than you thought it was for the last few weeks. The radiator fan is probably the engagement switch. I don't know the exact name for it, but if you want to do the work yourself I can scan the page in the Helm's manual that describes it. It happened to my mom in her Civic. The switch should cause the fans to switch on when your stopped at intersections and stop and go traffic. Have that checked out, but you might want to check the coolant and oil levels too because you shouldn't immediatly overheat.
