i may be young but i understand things that are happening around the world and around me
why buy something with a credit card if you cant afford it? are you stupid?
a bank loan i could understand for a place to live that is the only loan i would ever get
i mean anything else if you cant afford it dont buy it
like people that put 40,000 cars on there creditcard cause they cant afford it

I have to half ass agree with him... Borrowing money is just stupid! It will fuck you in the long run with interest rates. Also, alot of shit I dont need... Like a cell phone, and other shit.... I guess it all comes down to what you are realy interested in, some people gotta be fake as plastic and have a cell phone or they dont feel "Cool", while others like myself are more down to earth and only buy what thay can afford. Which would be a whole lot less if I had more bills then I already do.
I meen, I pay $700 a month for rent, like $120 for smokes, $200 on food, $80 for insurance and like $150 in gas... I only make like $2000 a month so any more bills would not allow me to work on my project(s). Just my $0.02...

people take out loans b/c unless u have the money (ie me and school)u pay it back later...who really can go out here and pay straight out cash for a car or house??/ i wish .......cell phones....get one and don't turn it on and keep it in ur car....that way if u ever get in an accident...911 calls are free.....people buy cars on crefit cards b/c u can have a lower intrest rate to pay rather than going to a bank and taking out a loan....me...at 18 i had an american express...and boy i wasn't reay for it :D but i'm going to get the green american express eventually b/c it's a cash card....which means you can spend all you want all month but come the end of the month you have to pay it off....i like that idea

but i think my wfe makes about $4k-5k a month and i make a little over $400 a week....but the only money i get to spend on myself is my part time hob at long john silvers :( the past two weeks i brought home $144.00...only lasted 2 days....darn u $5.15 an hour:D

Tony

Yea, I will half way agree with them, but not all the way. I can understand getting loans for big shit like a car or a house. Credit cards, I would actually like to have one to build up some damn credit, but right now I can't afford one, so I don't have one. Same with a cell phone, I would like to have one, for both the whole emergency situation, and used to my by 2nd reason was long distance, but now that they are coming out with plans for your normal phone with free long distance, that is no longer my 2nd reason really.

thank god for student loans, so when i'm an automotive engineer working for some aftermarket company after college i can pay them back. but for right now i have to support myself completely. every bill, every meal, etc.... yeah it sucks for my car, but hey, i like supporting myself... a nice change from living at home. my first job earned me minimum wage, and i worked 40 hours a week (in addition to high school) to buy a car and pay the insurance etc... best feeling i ever got. i fucking hated that job.

Because sometimes you need things, and you don't have all the cash for it. Like I said, you have no understanding of what its like to have phone bills, rent, car payments, insurance, saving for school. Its not easy.. I make what you made on your first pay cheque per hour, and money is still not just laying around to buy a car and things like that.

Right now I'm sure that your parents pay for so many things that you don't even realize cost money until you're grown up and have to buy all that ish on your own.

amy@af
04-13-2003, 01:28 PM
ahhhh c'mon, leave the kid alone. he'll learn soon enough what the world is about

however, in his defense....we have zero credit cards, all cars paid for, & a kid ....we do have a house payment but, i won't complaine...we have a 3 bed 2 bath house. oh yea, and i don't work. so it is possible to live life without signing it away.

if anything 96hatch is smart for not wanting credit cards and loans. i know some people who got credit cards & car loans straight out of high school. they will never actually own anything in their possesion

You're crying like you're a 13 year old kid.. If you're so mature, act like it and realize that this is the internet, not real life.

The reason I jump on your comments about people who are in debt and shit, is because I'm 22 and I've had 2 loans already (both payed off now).. Its not as easy as you think it is to make it.. It never is. For my last 3 years of highschool I worked a full time job and went to school so I could afford my shit.. I worked damn hard, and I still do now but the money just isn't always all there for everything. I've held down a full time job since I was 16 so I know all about what its like to work hard and make your money.. I've always had to buy all my own shit, and its good because I did it my way, but there have been some tought times too.

Like I said in my first post.. In 6 years from now if you check back you'll probably realize that what I was trying to say is true. I'm sure there are a lot of people here who can realate.

Tony
04-13-2003, 02:35 PM
i don't think you could have said that better SiZ. I can definitely relate to that, because that is how i was, once i hit 16, i got myself a job, worked my ass off. I thought at that time I was already pretty much in the real world, boy was I wrong. Once I left my parents house and moved in with some friends in our own house, I realized that bills and food cost a shit load. Still hasn't stopped me from doing anything yet, sure this past month I did not have ajob, mainly because I wanted to get out of fucking fast food, I had enough of it. Now I have me another job and I will continue working my ass off so I can start working on my car finally.

Jetts
04-13-2003, 02:39 PM
yea i know i got things easy, i know there is bills and shit people have to pay and you know tony the day i hit 16 i looked for like 4 months lookin for a job and i finally do and i get no support, not even from my family

i'm sure too. but apparently you completely missed what i said.....we have a HOUSE payment. we also have a child. both extreme money drainers.

we have cars, cell phone, and all that great stuff. we got those things from NOT getting loans.....saving the cash. jer and i have been living together 7 years. i haven't worked in over 4. it hasn't always been easy....but it can be done. i turned 26 and jer 27 in march. we both started working at 16....i just stopped after the kid.

i'm sorry you had to take out loans and what not but you have to look over on the other side of the fence. it is completely possible to have nice things and never have a loan or credit cards. and it's not fair to get upset with the people who don't want loans because you did choose to get them.

obviously whatever you took the loan for you had to have right then, or you wouldn't have taken the loan.....some people choose to scrimp and save every last penny before a $ is spent. i'm damn proud to say EVERYTHING on my Si (including the car it's self which was $3000) was bought and paid for in cash.

i agree with you siz, he'll see it's harder in the real world with day to day bills. wait until you buy a house and have to replace say the roof or the appliences. but i also agree with 96hatch. life can be lived without credit & loans

dood, no credit cards? that just makes buying stuff online a chore. i have a credit card for one thing, and thats to buy stuff on ebay and elsewhere online. dont use it for anything else, and whenever i make a purchase i pay it off in two payments, that way i get a little credit to my name AND save most of the interest raping.

and as far as loans go, theres really no way a mechanic these days could survive without financing something in the way of tools. cars are too advanced and require too many tools these days to just walk into sears and buy a 200 piece craftsman set and try to do everything you need to do. theres way too many specialty tools, and i admit that i did have to take a 4K loan for that. but i have the tools i need, and its a no interest loan (from my rich granny), so i will be able to pay her back in a year. getting a good paycheck in the automotive industry requires you to either break yourself by not having the tools you need and by working yourself to death, or by playing it smart and getting the right tools for the job and knowing when to shut down the shop for the evening.

remember that as long as you manage your shit, you can actually gain something from loans and credit cards. not everyone can pay in cash for everything they want, and sometimes its even easier when you dont.
