After installing a new transmission in my 98 5.7 liter Silverado it won't start. Turns over and have spark, gas plugs are wet. Have double checked all electrical connections. Would any of the electrical connections on the trans prevent the engine from starting?
Thanks for the help!

place to start is the fuel pressure check proceedure ..on this forum it is posted many times follow the proceedure ...
if the pressure checks are correct then the crank position sensor wires may be the cause , but since you do have spark I would tend to think its not enough fuel..check all the grounding connections ..alot of times when this work is done the electrical grounds are not properly secured to the frame/engine..

You may just need a new distributor cap and rotor if the spark looked weak or didn't spark in the rhythm it should while cranking

no reason a trans swap should prevent the truck from starting. Double check everything you disconnected. Make sure you didn't damage anythig during the swap, and that you did not discoonect the oil pressure sesnor connector on back of the block up by the distributor. Any trouble codes? Any grounds disconnected?

Do you have spark at the coil or at a cyclinder?

I have spark at the plugs and it will not run on carb cleaner. I know that installing the trans does not effect it not running, just thought I might have forgot to plug something back in. I am starting to think that it might be a crank angle sensor? No codes and checked oil pressure switch. Will the security feature prevent it from starting and if so what are the syptoms and fix?
Will check fuel pressure in the morning, but shouldn't it run on carb cleaner?
