:lol2::runaround:hello
I have a chevy caprice 1991 sedan and I have eibach lowered spring kit in it that gives it a 1.2" drop on both front/rear.
My car was garage kept for over a year and I remember before I kept it in garage it was very bouncy, for example when I apply the brake it would bounce and kept on boucing until it stopped itself.
I have ordered a new set of shocks, for the front I have ordered the bilstein HD and for the back I have the monroe max air adjustables ( got these at really good price). I have not installed the shocks yet before I get it installed. Can any GURUS out there tell me if I should change any other small things that would give me a better ride/control? for example sway bar bushings/links etc? and if you can refer me to the exact part you recomend with the part number
I also wanted to know if ZQ8 bump stops are made my year/made? where can I find them any website you know of or part number?

thanks alot

The shocks should take care of the bouncy stuff just try to run minimum air pressure in the rear shocks unless you need to carry a heavy load or it could be to bouncy and stiff in the rear.

You could also upgrade to urethane sway bar end link bushings and also upgrade the sway bars for better control. I have Hotchkis sway bars on my wagon and love them. Makes the car really corner flat.

Check the front end and replace any worn parts and don't forget the front end alignment afterwards.

Check out Summit racing and Jegs for the parts you are looking for.

I have the sport bilsteins in my 96 impala with the stock springs this gives a good solid ride ...no bouncing...

the front and rear stabilizer bars should be removed and cleaned painted , then install the new bushings..

with the bars held tightly by the bushings on a clean painted bar you will get the most effect...I used the OEM bushings ..

make sure you get the correct sized bushings measure the bar diameter.

with your rear air shocks, I on an older sedan used these ...when you install you must use silicone grease on the O rings...this will ensure no air leaks for the life of the shock ,,which I found to be about 7 yrs..

the air pressure with a normal load should be 25-30 psi...adjust the rear height so the the drive shaft U joint is straight as possible..this will ensure no U joint failures...

when a bad snow storm was coming I would put 400lbs of sand in the trunk and with 80psi in the air shocks to level the car out I got a good amount of traction...

since you have the lowering springs which I have heard have , many negative comments report back how these lowering springs worked out..

Thank you for getting back

So when you say I should upgrade to urethane sway bar/links can you recommend me which one? I have found a few at
http://rockauto.com under
1991 CHEVROLET CAPRICE CLASSIC LTZ 5.0L 305cid V8 TBI (E) : Suspension : Stabilizer Bar Bushing
It has quite a few listed there how do I know which one is correct? Can you please have a look at give me the part number from there that would be best. along with the bushing links
Should I do the front end alignment after everything is done?

Thanks alot

another problem i have is that my caprice is lower on the driver side than the pasenger side, it is uneven I am thinking it could be because of the shocks are dead on that side, but other than that I have no idea why it is lower on driver side and it is not even :S, also when I steer my steering wheel when then car is parked the whole body of the car moves side to side any help on this please?

can you please point me to the correct part number for my caprice bushings, sway bar etc. There are a few and I dont know which one to buy.
thanks

like I said you measure the sway bar diameter then order the correct bushings.. the links you buy the kit which has the bushings and bolt/nuts..

if your vehicle is lower on one side this means you need new springs..the springs will keep the height correct..

WHEN OPERATING WITH DEFECTIVE SHOCKS YOU DAMAGE THE SPRINGS !

WHENEVER A SHOCK GETS WEAK REPLACE SHOCKS ...if not then you will need to replace springs and shocks...

shocks do not raise vehicle or change height...

Oh ok so you mean my left spring is gone? that sucks but luckily I have a set of springs from caprice 93 :grinyes: so that along with new shocks should give me an even balance height!!!
so i dont need to get sway bar just the bushings/links right?
and I also mentioned how my car moves side to side when i turn my steering wheel especially when the car is stopped any input on that!
thank you so much for the help you are awesome my friend

when you replace the springs check all the front end steering componets..the side to side movement may be the lower ball joints, or even the control arm bushings...
